Hi there,
I used to own a 914 which was titled as a 914S.
Thinking about it this morning i did a google search and found basically nothing on the car.
Does anyone know anything about these?
Mine only had a 2.0 tag on the back, had a sideshifter transmission, adjustable height coilovers in the rear, the center console guages, and not sure what else. It didnt have flares like the 6. Unfortunately i sold the car in Ohio after throwing a bearing or something on a cross country trip. Just curious what the s included as an option. The car seemed stock to me however i had no idea that they didnt have coilovers in the back until looking at one years later. Not sure what it had up front for suspension. Just curious. This had 'S' on the title, so i imagine it was factory.
Thanks,

There actually is a very practical reason to have this information recognized, available, & for PCNA/Porsche to include it in their records & on COAs - instead of trying to bury it or continue the sham of denying it.

PCA snobbery is now past the NARPy thing & like the 914s - as do the rest of the auto collector community, & PCNA/PAG needs to be honest & admit they made a mistake & recognize what the "914S" was & what special equipement was included, as well as a way to differentiate between theose 73 914-2.0's which did not include all of the equipment (e.g: Dave K's Orange late 73 2L).

Since the COA currently only lists those options above & beyond those already included in the base price for what P+A/VoA originally termed the "914S" - as an owner you have no - ZERO - proof for your insurance company nor appraiser nor buyer to show what options were in fact original to & included on your 1973 MY 914-2.0 ("914S").

And it's a royal PITA - when you're paying good money to PCNA for a COA - to then have research it all out, as well as researching proof on the errors which PCNA's staff seem to always get on the older cars' COAs! That was how I got started in researching & documenting this "914S" subject for my 914's COA mess!!

Again - the "914S" was the upscale trim designation for only those 1973 MY 914-2.0's which were equipped with at least both the Appearance Group (called Comfort Group in Europe/RoW & in Jeff's Options listing) & Performance Group (Sport Group in same) within the base 914-2.0 price - as documented on 100's of 1000s of sales brochures, print ads & other official Porsche+Audi printed material etc. You see a couple of examples on here, several more in my other 914S" topic, & can find many others elsewhere, and corroboration from others who were actually involved with Porsche at that time.

SirAndy & others on here would have you believe that Porsche in Germany was completely unaware, & didn't initially approve them, for the 12+ months from early 1972 thru early 1973. So let's not confuse them with the facts - let alone corroboration from anyone actually around & involved back then.

I've also had many `73 914-2.0 owners ask me how can they prove it in such cases, so they won't get screwed by the lack of insurance coverage or whatever! So this sort of "914S" trim designation documentation is helpful to those owners, sellers, buyers, etc.

Therefore, I try to answer these topics when they come up, & provide the information as completely as possible, as well as correct misinformed statements from the peanut gallery when they inevitably chime in on here!

I don't see what helpful purpose members posting pix of my poor old 914 is doing to be helpful, nor some of this other BS, but they'll have to answer for themselves how their "contributions" help the OP here & elsewhere that they've "entertained themselves" on 914world. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/shades.gif)

It really is not to self-flagellate, but to help others out one here - which is why I've stay on here since `09. Anyone who actually knows me personally can speak from experience to that - even if I AM too wordy!!!! Look above the little green boxes below my avatar! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

That is my 10 cents .... & TMI ..... out! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sunglasses.gif)

Cheers! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)
