I am changing the fuel pump on my 73 1.7 from the stock pump (3 port)to the late model (2 port) pump. I have two questions I would appreciate feedback on. First, does the tank line from the pressure regulator need to be directed back to the pump inlet? It would make the routing of hoses infinitely easier if this could go directly back to tank. Also, directing it to the pump inlet seems unnecessary unless there would be an issue with starving pump? Secondly does anyone know of a fuel filter which could accept the 7/16" hose required for the pump inlet? Thanks in advance for any help.
