So as I am preparing to tear my car down for restore, I have possibly found a 3.0L six cylinder motor that I can afford (and afford to have rebuilt). Note: My car is a 2.0L 4-banger.
I know that the 3.2L is a very popular upgrade. For the 3.0L six, what can I expect out of that motor? Do I have to run the CIS injection or can I go ITB's (or other intake setup) and megasquirt setup? |

Carbs or EFI is a slippery slope...then you will want to upgrade the cams $1000... etc.
Rebuild can get upwards of $8k if you can DIY, expect double or more for a pro, that plus the core. I did it all myself including machining and I bet I have well over $11K in the engine. The 3.2 is really only popular because of the excellent FI system, the 3.0 actually is a stronger engine because the rods have bigger bolts. 901 is fine, IIRC my trans is a A,F,O,X, HA. Flipped HA gear is almost as good as a H, in my case already I had a HA in my pile. Take off from 2nd, only use 1st as a granny gear on a grade. |
