Gents,
I think I need a ride in a Subaru swapped conversion to help push me over the motivational hump. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/s9.postimg.org-11125-1433372064.1.jpg) I am thinking an EZ30R or an EJ turbo series motor. ( don't have the skills or motivation to do out of the box like Mike or what Andrew is starting) I came from the Subaru world before 914's, so it's a warm & fuzzy. Any bay area folks have a running swap I could take a ride in sometime this summer? Thanks! Matt I added a pole for your opinion ( cuz they are fun ) |

Well, I would be happy with 300 wheel HP ( but I know I don't need that in a 914)
EJ stock pistons are pretty weak..so pushing over 350 means I would probably need to go forged.....then the motor build spirals with (while I am in there) A little less than that feels quick in my Subaru wagon. With an EJ motor, it's as easy as injectors, maybe a Mitsu 18g or small gt turbo and a tune. To be honest Subaru tuning is so cheap now, I don't know why more conversion guys don't take advantage of it. Matt What are your HP goals? |

Well that rules out the v6 options unless you want to put a little nitrous, supercharger, or turbo.. No? What type of power delivery do you want? Instant or do you want some lag? I think thats what will be your deciding factor.. If you want 300+whp and instant power your probably looking at the slightly worked over 2.5.. Want a little bit of lag then the 2.0.. OK with say 250 wheel probably the 3.6 is the way to go.. (You could always put a rear turbo on it later and go mad with it..) Or am I reading this wrong? |
