I have a 1970 4 with exchangers but no heat hooked up and no plans for it. Dual Weber 40IDFs and cam.
I currently have a Bursch type exhaust. It's really loud. I like loud but this sounds bad. And I want smoother, deeper sounds. Also i get an enormous amount of heat in the rear. Finding an inexpensive header seems impossible. So wondering if anyone has done a setup similar to this. Use the J pipes from a late model and turn them around....attach turbomufflers or magnas and then route the pipe out the back. Would this kill any torque or power I have? Would it be quieter? ![]() |

So I decided to keep the Sebring tubing and replace the muffler. I dropped the whole unit out of the car.
For record: Tube is 2" diameter For the hell of it I started it up with open exchangers...wow what a sound....like a v8 with zoomies! It revs so smoothly now...kinda thinking this old muffler is more of a choker. I ordered this and picking it up tonight...then off to the local muffler shop to see if he will touch it. ......what's the easiest way to strip of flaky heat paint that didn't hold up? Thrush Hush |
