I bought some parts from Brad Mayeur to convert my tailshift to sideshift...
I have the engine and trans out and when I went to clean up the parts, I noticed that the area of the side shift console is a bit "corroded" just outside of the o ring area. So, for those that are familiar with these components, can i simply change the o-ring and install, or should I take it to a machine shop for careful milling? My little soda blaster was not able to shift any of the raised areas.... The corrosion is not on a sealing surface, dress any unevenness with a file.
We now use Curil T along with the O ring for a positive seal. 40+ year old magnesium can warp in areas like this especially if it has been overtightened in the past. Brad |
