any body know the best brakes for four lugs that work well in our teeners and are in a decent price range? I figure I can get some used bmw calipers at a used parts yard If I knew the model and years instead of throwing down 400 bones for two bmw calipers at AA? any good knowledge out there on brakes?

I track my car and before I began to understand the physics behind fluid dynamics and braking systems, I had already swapped out for the BMW calipers. As you'll read, if you can already lock up the tires on the car with stock brakes, then you have all the braking power you'll ever need. Add in big, sticky slicks and the situation changes somewhat.
That being said, the only advantage I can see to having the BMW calipers, is since I am running a 4-lug setup, they are the most economical, physically larger calipers available, which in theory, translates to a bigger heat sink, HOPEFULLY keeping the fluid from boiling. I have never had any signs of brake fade, but then again, the car only does 90 down the backstretch at Sebring and I have also fabricated brake ducts to the calipers themselves and I run good quality, high-temp fluid. When I go to a larger engine in the future, I'm hoping they'll hold up, but the only way to tell is to run it. |
