Does my fuel injection 1973 1.7 need a specific fuel filter or will any generic filter work? Just wondered if they can affect the injection system running due to fuel pressure etc.

The fuel supply line through the center tunnel is larger than the rest of the fuel lines in the car. The fuel pump connection is the same size as the other lines. You need a way to go from the larger line to the smaller line. This was done in one of two ways. There was a piece of hose that was larger on one end and smaller on the other; this "converter hose" is quite expensive (of course!) and can be hard to find. Alternately, there was a fuel filter that had a larger inlet and a smaller outlet. This "big-little" filter is fairly unique.

If your car uses the big-little filter, you have to use that. Or come up with a converter hose, or fabricate a step down out of plumbing parts or some such.

Otherwise, any filter with the correct size hose fittings that is built for high pressure is fine. The common round filters you find for cheap everywhere are intended for carb-friendly pressures, and can fail when subjected to FI pressures. You don't want that to happen...
