Well, for the benefit of those who might some day want to attend one of these 914 fun runs, here are some things I learned yesterday:
1. Sometimes these fun runs are more 'fun' than 'run'. 2. Before taking your V8 conversion out for the first time, check the tranny mounts. 3. If you don't have time to check the tranny mounts, at least make sure that your dual muffler setup is securely fastened to the tranny so that when it drops while in motion, the tranny is spared. 4. Driving with a dropped tranny with the aforementioned setup is a good way to remove that unwanted metal on the bottom of your mufflers plus it makes a real cool dual roostertail of sparks. 5. Exiting a corner ass-end first is not the preferred technique, but if exiting a corner ass-end first, it is preferable to stay on the paved bits. 6. Don’t lift-throttle in the middle of a fast turn. See ‘5’ 7. Carry a clean pair of underwear in the glove compartment. See ‘6’ 8. If one insists on ignoring lessons 5 and 6, at least make sure there is at least one car behind you with occupants ready to help extract you from the dirt. 9. If you think you are pretty fast in your Civic, don't get in front of Duffster. 10. Be the guy following Duffster so you can hear the beautiful sound of that 2.7RS. 11. Damn that 2.7RS sounds sweet.
