Anyone know if the steel roof panel could have been purchased at one time or another to "convert" a targa topped car to a solid roof ??

Do you mean this one? I saw this in the flesh a few years back -a really nice conversion. Flawless. I just found this picture on the 'net and to my surprise that guy wearing a 914 blueprint T-shirt to the left is me.

that's funny!! hey .... i know that guy .... oh it's me!! haaaaaa!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

paul, i took frances and jeanne right on the head. i stayed in my apt. beachside. the northern edge of the eye passed just to the my south. we had about 5 hours of sustained winds from about 60 to 80 mph with gusts just over 100 mph. my neighbors and i were lucky, no damage, but there was quit a bit of carnage to the older houses, condos and hotels right along the beach. oh ... and of course the trailer parks!! most all of the newer const. had little damage mostly only shingles or tiles missing. never lost power during jeanne. but lost cable and internet for a few days. there are still plenty of people without power. 2 months left in the season!! those original stampings would be cool!!! check into it!!
