Hey, can you help.
We have a 73-914 1.7L. Under hard acceleration the engine cuts out and then we get a small back fire and the engine will catch. If we gradually accelerate the engine performs fine but is under hard acceleration that we have a problem. Can you possibly give us a direction to look to fix the problem. New fuel pump, new fuel filters,, and the tank was cleaned and lines flushed 200 miles ago. Thank for listening, |

Bad FI pressure regulator. No. This behavior is typical for missing additive injector pulses during acceleration. The throttle-valve-switch (TPS) switches contacts when opening the throttle and sends this information to the ECU. Check and clean this unit inside- do not oil or grease the contacts.
