Hey, can you help.
We have a 73-914 1.7L. Under hard acceleration the engine cuts out and then we get a small back fire and the engine will catch.
If we gradually accelerate the engine performs fine but is under hard acceleration that we have a problem.
Can you possibly give us a direction to look to fix the problem.
New fuel pump, new fuel filters,, and the tank was cleaned and lines flushed 200 miles ago.

No.

This behavior is typical for missing additive injector pulses during acceleration.

The throttle-valve-switch (TPS) switches contacts when opening the throttle and sends this information to the ECU.

Check and clean this unit inside- do not oil or grease the contacts. The electrical current is very low, grease will prevent contacting.
