Doing some test fitting on the SHO-914 and noticed that the gaps between the trunk lid and quarter panels seems a bit excessive. I know these cars are hand built - but just checking. One side shows just over 1/4in and the other is at 5/16in.

Mercedes has the best gaps by far. 911's have better more consistent gaps. 914's are wide. 5-6 mm for the rear lids are typical.
unit body chassis tolerance for the fixed mounting points and all fixed (welded) chassis cross check and measurements are 3mm. Three dimes in any one direction. Not multiple cross checks. In other words you are working from 1.5 mm. More than that and it multiplies the fitment and handling specially when suspension is mounted and alignment is attempted. Fixed lots of wrecks. That's how I know. |
