Thought I would start a new thread for all to view and learn from.
Got the muffer and muffler bracket off for a better view. Check out the arrow below the hole?? more failure in case? Went ahead and drained the oil. Hope I don't find too much metal. Tomarrow I will start unbuckling everything so i can drop the tranny lower. Then we'll peer into the abyss..... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) later Attached image(s) |

Just an update for everyone. We put John's car back together Wed. night. We had to use a 12x1.5 tap in the end of the pinion shaft to get the bolt to go in, as it had buggered up the threads. I am really embarassed, but when we reassembled the rear of the tranny, I put the needle bearing on the wrong end of the reverse idler gear. So the gear hit the bearing retainer plate. We finished up at about 8:30 at night, and I had an hour drive back home. John pulled it apart Thursday morning, and put theneedle bearing on the correct end of the reverse idler and reassembled. He called me and told me that he is back on the road again!!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif) |
