We started this project literally years ago. The thought process was to go to a neoprene to improve the seal, unfortunately even the softest neoprene was holding the trunk up and not allowing it to sit properly.
Initially we planned to glue the corners as others have done. This is great until you get to the seam at the top of the trunk. It actually has to step down. So we put this on hold until I could re-evaluate it. The only way the upper section can be made correctly is molded corners. So we bit the bullet and made the 2 molds (yes can't be the same one as they are not 90s). Making as a molded and bonded product is the only way to go. Factory had it right to start with. We did however make our corners from a softer material to allow it to close a little easier. You may not even notice but we did want to make the best product we could. Attached thumbnail(s)

Just to be clear, these are to be placed in the seal channel and not glued in, correct? I believe that's how the factory seal fits (because it actually fits) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) |
