Engine is ready to come off the stand. But, um, what is best way to do so.
I originally had it (engine) sitting on Harbor Freight Lift Table. Raised it up to height of engine stand and pushed it on. Am thinking same approach to remove it. I do not have an engine hoist. For mating the tranny should I just leave the engine on the lift table or place it on the floor? I did pick up the engine / transmission lifting plate from Tangerine Racing. I *think* that is designed to lift the engine only after it is attached to tranny and should not be used just engine alone? Is that correct? Not sure best way to get the plate and the jack under the assembled trans / engine. Just get a few big folks to help lift it? I will have to do some additional manuevering due to my four post lift. Some of you may recall when I removed engine that the tins and engine brace are wider than the lift runners. |

My car has after market headers so there are 4X stub tubes that I can put on while still on the stand.
With the stock exhaust I would put the exhaust on after the engine is in. To get the engine down I just put on the engine bar and use a two man lift (one person on each side one hand on engine bar other on yoke) to pull the yoke out of the engine stand and set it on the floor on some 2X4s. Then bolt up the tranny. then you can tip the engine up in the air by the tranny and slide the jack under it. |
