Hey you Yankees! I'm taking my family on a month long trip from Atlanta to Maine (and hopefully back) this Summer. While I have been up to Lake George and have spent some time in the NE region - it has always been on business.
Questions: What do I need to make a priority, in your opinion? Thank you in advance for your thoughts... PS: One caveat: We travel in a big (60' with toad) RV - I can't drive it just anywhere. Tony |

Mt. Washington NH
You won't be able to take the RV up the auto road, but there are van tours or you can hike (do not under estimate the weather -people die on it year round) or while it isn't cheap, the Cog Railroad is the way to go.... Newburyport MA, and/or Portsmouth NH, and or Portland ME If you are just going to pass through NH but have a little time to kill, get off 95 and take RT1A up the coast and get back on 95 in Portsmouth or Kittery ME |

Mt. Washington NH the Cog Railroad is the way to go.... If you want to see the mountains in New England I agree. Mount Washington is the second highest peak on the east coast, the highest in New England. The Mount Washington Hotel is not far from the base of the cog railway IIRC. The Bretton Woods Conference was held there near the end of WWII. There are some challenging day hikes in the vicinity as well. |
