I am having a shifting problem. I have a 72 side shift and everytime I go for 4th or 5th I hit 2nd and 3rd. if I put it in neutral and hit the knob to the left I can squeeze it into 5th. any ideas?

Bushings: You have one in the firewall and two in the knuckle on the engine side f the firewall.
Then there is one bushing in the "console" at the tranny where the shift linkage ends. You might need to replace all of those. Then there are two "cone screws" one in the knuckle at the firewall and one right at the tranny in the 90 degree fitting. Those might need tightening or replacing. Then there is one "cup" at the tranny inside the 90 degree fitting. (edit forgot SS does not have a cup in the shifter) |
