In fact, I have learned to never pay for insurance at all.
I have car insurance, because I have to, but screw the rest. I learned from a couple of friends who are attorneys that your absolute best insulation from a law suit is lack of insurance. Since the Florida Constitution says that no judgment may take your home (even if it's worth millions), it's far more prudent to not be married, put everything in your partner's name and then just not worry about it. Go ahead, sue me. No lawyer will take your case and you can't get my house or the stuff in my partner's name. I "own" nothing and I'm very happy not worrying about liability in our litigious society. "Slip and Fall Accident"? Then you're an idiot who should pay more attention, instead of calling a lawyer. My new 3 acre property will have a sign next to the entrance that says: NO INSURANCE ON THIS PROPERTY. IF YOU'RE A LITIGIOUS TYPE, TURN RIGHT AROUND AND LEAVE.
