I have installed a new 19mm master cylinder that came with a single switch. My '72 harness to this switch has two wires each with a female "push on" connector, but the new brake master cylinder switch has only one male connector on it, next to the reset (?) switch. Two questions: 1) do I need to find a two connector switch, and 2) how do you reset the switch? I pushed the little black button into the switch and I think a felt it go in with a slight "snap".

Looks like I found the problem. Earlier in this string of messages I described what I will now call a "shunt" between the alternator light and the emergency brake lights behind the left hand fuel gauge. The shunt, see picture, has a 2" length of straight stiff silver wire soldered at each end to the typical harness type wire (note different color code at each end!) encased in a thin shiny black plastic shrunk onto the wire, further encased in a hard black plastic sleeve (see in photo) also about 2" long.
I have removed it and now this problem is resolved (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif) I will not fully relax on this until I have the installation of the rebuilt engine complete and have had a test drive. ![]() Comments will again be very welcome. |
