Didnt I see a metal clutch pulley disk somewhere?, need a new one Options

I had a race this weekend, and on the last lap of the last race I thought I snapped the clutch cable.
Pedal flopped to the floor and I couldnt get it into gear.
I was able to rev match it into 4th and nurse it all the way around the cool down lap and roll into my spot in the paddock, no-one but me the wiser...

Anyway I get underneath and the aftermarket black plastic clutch pulley had MELTED and folded over letting the cable slip off.

I have the kerry hunter-like headers where the 4-1 collector is basically right next to the clutch pulley.

So I will probably built a heatshield for the trans in that area AND replace the pulley.

But before I order another black plastic pulley, dont I recall seeing pictures of an aluminum or brass clutch pulley from somewhere?

Guy on ebay is selling them with a bearing in the center for about $40.

I cant find it, do you have a link?

Kerry Hunter Headers collect on the driver's side.
Yours must be European Racing or the equivalent, which have much longer (40" vs. 32") primaries and have the collector pretty much right next to the pulley.

I make my own to fit the larger pipes, but they blow out too often.
I ordered a set for the 911 stubs, but they are about 3/16 inch smaller than the ID and I dont want a "reversion lip" on my stub pipes :-)

On stubs and big flanges I don't even run gaskets. The flanges have to be at least 3/8" thick to do this without leaks.

I would try the no gasket method if the flanges were out of the car and I could sand both sides of the interface flat.
But since I dont want to remove the stubs from the car this time, I bought a sheet of 14 Ga soft copper and spent a couple hours making these:

In the pic you can see the stock 911 exhaust flange gaskets have an OD that is just smaller than I needed.
The lower gasket in the pic is sitting on top of one of the OEM gaskets so you can see that the ID was too small for my 1.5" pipes.

I'll sand them flat and anneal them before I try em.

As for the metal Pulley, I am waiting to see what Mueller can do for me when he returns from vacation.
Other than that I might take this opportunity to join my local maker-club (Longmont Tinkermill) where they have a full machine shop open 24/7 to members for $75 a month.

That would have been cheaper than the $25K I just dropped a few weeks ago for my new equipment. At least I can just walk out to the garage only wearing my slippers and boxers and make some chips without getting in too much trouble.... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif)

My local tinkermill has laser cutting CNC routing & Mill, full electronics lab, welding shop, and even a foundry.
I could cast some Aluminum parts if I was really being inventive.
