I just put in new bronze coupler bushings on my side-shifter, and am looking to tighten up the linkage as much as I can. Question: are bronze shift rod bushings at the transmission available? I'm talking about replacing the plastic bushing that snaps in at the transmission, the shift rod goes through it. The plastic ones I've had always have had slop even when new. Thanks...

I had the situation where the trans and motor were separate ,thought good time to go thru the shifter/gearbox wear parts,Tangerine bulkhead bush then all other parts replaced, the shifter console bush looked ok but 'while you are in there" I replaced that bush, turned out replacement was looser than the old one which I presumed was still genuine.
The one sourced from Pelican is most likely made by Mark Whitesells friends @ URO (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lol-2.gif) ,still have no idea why they are made it that way,the centre is oversize in comparison to my old one,not a very good fit on the OD measurement also.
My point is that most likely better to buy genuine if you are using the plastic version.
I have the bronze on to go in when it arrives...job done right (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beer.gif) .
