Does anyone know of a thread that discusses the pros/cons/how-to's of using a 996 suspension on a 914? Many thanks...

I think the key is Mark Henry's statement. By the time you get the suspension onto the 914 and the kinks worked out, you could have wound up with a suspension that is better than the 996 one. That is, double wishbones up front and either double wishbones or multilink in the back.

If the 996 rear suspension is shaped like I think it is, it will be a real challenge to fit the inboard links without taking up space that the engine is in. That can be worked around, of course.

The camber curves on the MacPherson strut front suspension are OK but not great. You can get much better ones with double wishbones or other multilink. Semi-trailing arms are decent, but again multilink can give you much better control over the camber and toe angles. (Of course, there are also more parts that you can put in the wrong place, so...)
