I'm considering shooting my own car this summer. I am thinking of using two stage paint and will be painting the exterior up to the weather rubber channels in the trunks and the door jambs.
Anyone know about how many gallons of paint it will take to shoot? I'm thinking three coats of base followed by two or three coats of clear. I've already finished most of the body work and have most of the car stripped and primered. Thanks |

Disclaimer - I'm not a painter.
My friend painted the exterior of mine and the jams (2 stage), we bought a gallon of DuPont Nason. I think he did 2 oats of base and ended up with 2 quarts left. Not sure how much clear was used. I later had him re-do the front fenders, hood, behind the front bumper, and inside the front and rear trunks.. that was about another quart. It really doesn't take much if done right. |
