Hi Guys,
I am faced with needing to fix up/replace the top dash pad. Will a dash cover (around $100-130) suffice? Or is it a better idea just to save that money and apply it towards the new pad ($550)? Thanks as always for the advice, Ross |

Ross,
IMHO it depends upon your needs & taste, & overall condition & value of your 914. If it's a very nice high value concours or pleasure car, then get the Stoddard's or other repro dash top to last another 20 or so years, but keep the car or dash covered to lessen the heat/sun effects on your nice new dash. Same if you're spending bucks for a resto on it now - do it right. If it's just an average or lower condition fu n car or DD, then the glue-on/adhesive pads hard plastic dash cap will work okay, but a cracked dash doesn't hurt functionality, so you could perhaps use the money instead for something which does affect function. PS - Stoddard may be getting theirs from 914Rubber noted above, so check both out, & if same one, same price, then pick best shipping to your location - 914Rubber is in OR, & Stoddard is in OH - so UPS on a large package like that can be a few bucks different - & you can buy on overall total price with tax & shipping to you.
