Putting back together the 74 2L after 34 years in a barn has been trying at times. She now runs, stops and looks sweet. What fun.

A persistent exhaust leak has been traced to a broken exhaust down tube for cylinder number 2. The welded bung for stud fastening to the head torn the tube metal around 3 sides of the area. We drilled the cracks at their ends to alleviate any stress concentration areas, cleaned the cracks and rewelded the area. Using an Aerospace certified welder and he is knowledgable with SS. Cracked now outside the weld. Tried pass number 2 and it seems to hold. It's back on the car but ........................

My hopes are not high for this being a long term fix so I'm investigating the purchase of a drivers side SS exhaust manifold. It's again for a 2L. Looking for an excellent replacement piece.
