Hi everyone! So I started an account here to help my father rebuild his '75 914 1.8. Basically I am working on this car as a summer project in the weekends and maybe a weekday here and there if I have the time. This 914 has been garage kept for 20 years (1997) and as a 20 year anniversary it would be nice to resurrect this little guy. Here are some photos of the first day taking it out followed by washing, vacuuming, removing some exterior and flushing the fluids: Attached thumbnail(s) |

One more thing, for all you garage dwellers and DIY'ers, check out my new tool chest. The top was originally my grandpas that he passed on to me. I decided to complete it and bought the rest on Craigslist. Check out the surface condition. Don't you wish your chassis was in that good condition! I had never seen that version of the Craftsman chests before; gray cabinets with red drawers. I inherited a large Craftsman portable tool box from my father that is similar in style; the box and top hinged cover are gray with two red drawers on the bottom. I would guess 60's vintage. Unfortunately, the box must have spent a good bit of time on a damp floor because the bottom is rusting out. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) I have a set of Craftsman tool chests on casters that began as a Christmas gift from my sister in the 90's (Thanks Sister!) and were added to with Black Friday sales. These are all in the contemporary Craftsman red and black. |
