My original light was crap and I had tried using one of the knock-off models (and it cracked when I tried to install it). Not caring for originality, I spent some time in the wrecking yard this morning looking at the dome lights in different cars. Turns out the ones in the new beetle is a close match. Only problem was that they were all light grey. A little paint and a tiny bit of enlargement of the hole in the backpad did the trick. And all for $5.

kinda interesting to see the evolution of this particular piece. Like seeing a new and old 911 next to each other. I have no light on my car, but this is a great mod i'll have to try...
