I'm assembling the column and I have 2. 1 came with the car the other I bought from karmann connection. The latter is complete and has the ignition key in it.

Upon inspection there is 1 wire missing on the indicator/ light flash side. The one with the car has a pinkish wire that goes to the very bottom of the switch housing.

The one I bought does not have this wire.

What is it for?

I am pretty sure you are talking about the missing wire on the wiper switch. Missing wire is for intermittent wipers. They have a 5 pin plug. Aftermarket switches come with different color wires. They are supposed to be plug and play though.
