Well I need a bit of advice.
Out of these three which one would you use, and which is the worse? The worse will be used to make a tool, the best will go in the trans. All three lined up, the stacks will stay with the same letter, I am not playing a shell game here. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) So A, B, or C More Detailed pictures of A And B Finally C Thank you (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beer.gif) Attached thumbnail(s) |

I recommend you compare your 1st gear syncro teeth to the teeth on a 4th/5th shift sleeve. The 4th/5th doesn't wear much and provides a baseline.
The syncro teeth should be sharp, not rounded. You also need to look at rails behind the teeth to make sure they make a smooth compression of the syncro ring as the gear engages. Sometimes they will wear and metal is smeared off to side; look for sharp edges. I once rebuilt a transmission that had so much metal displaced that 1st gear was blocked. That said, all 3 of your sleeves look pretty good even though it is hard to tell from pictures. A seems to be the best. |
