What needs or can be done to a 2.0 crank to improve on it?
Knife edge? Polish it? High tech coatings? Soak it in Jack? (and don't give me any shit like "drill it full of holes to lighten it' (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif) ) Paul |

Alright there are two ways to look at this.
1. Balance it and leave it alone. Much easier, and cheaper. 2. My way: Call Moldex and tell them you want a fresh Billet cut. Honda Rod bearings, T4 rod bearings Cross Drilled oil passages Gun Drilled Mains and Rods Not a big believer in Knife edging, but an aero treatment should be applied to the counterwieghts. The leading edge should be rounded to a blunt profile with a nice 0-10 degree taper to the trailing edge of the crank. Scalloped Cut counterwieghts Center balanced Polished Shot peened Cryo treated Coated with an oil shedding coating Should be able to get the wieght down to 15-18 lbs LIghtening a crankshaft will increase harmonics. These will shorten the life of the crank and bearings. Just a By product of the lightening. |
