Mineral spirits are NLA in SoCal. What do you all use to clean off silicone? I've scraped all I can; I need to get the rest off.

Goo Gone supposedly works, but I tried it and it didn't seem to do much. Maybe I have the wrong kind.

I need to remove it from the rear window and from around the rear window frame on the car.

EDIT: I found a solution. I used Motsenbockers Lift-off. It apparently works by loosening the molecular bond. I scraped off as much as I could with a razor. I applied the lift-off. Let it sit for about 3-5 minutes. I was then able to scrub it off with a rag. Took about 3 applications.

The flour just made a mess! The other suggestions did not work for me.

You have to scrape it. It grabs by capillary action and the shit is really good adhesive.

Take pictures to show us. Do you not want to damage the paint?

Are you going back with new black butyl?

What color is the silicone?

If black why not just put more to put the window back in.

It's around the rear window area.

I do not want to damage the paint.

Yes, going with black butyl.

Silicone is clear.

As I said Acetone will not thin it and that is hot stuff. I do not think you can remove it with even gasoline. I do not think it will melt away. Use a flat edge and try to cut it off or lower it. It will cut with a fresh razor blade.

I have worked with silicones for molds for 40 years. Pouring them, cutting then with razor blades. Silicone in the form that you have stuck on is an adhesive. When you get that stuff on your hands it does not want t come off. Wiping it with a towel and even then with Acetone it still is on yours hands.

Silicone, like spray silicone is a mold release not and an adhesive like what you have stuck on your car.

Never get spray silicone or products that contains silicone need and thing you want to paint or you will get Fisheyes
