So I took a chance on putting on 16X7 on a stock body, not going to work. Put the wheel on with no tire and it was easy to see I had a problem. Brake clearance was not a issue but the fender sure was. Stock 4 Fuchs has a 45 ET and the 16x6 Boxster has a 50ET. 23.3 offset was going the wrong way. Looks like I would need a 7R wheel but they are 15".

I don't know why everybody tries so hard to fit 7's on a stock body car. 6's fit great without any mods and fit the same size tire as a 7. If you feel like you need more grip, get a higher performance tire. Very few of us are daily driving our cars. Most of them are sunny day, moderate weather drivers. I bet 99% of 914's age out their tires long before they wear them out. If you really want to be covered, get a second set of wheels and tires for the wetter, colder months.
