Hi,
I've been privileged to own three 914's (prior to this one), even bringing a 1.8 home from Germany courtesy of the Army in '83 (much to the chagrin of a guy in a beautiful forest green version around Ventura who probably wasn't use to driving his car at 120 all the time, (but I digress).) So I found this sweet '75 1.8. I can send pics. My info on the car is from the mechanic who worked for the Porsche dealership in La Mesa, California (near San Diego) who sold it to the original owner. The owner took exceptional care of it, and all the services are logged in the owner's manual or subsequent documentation by the mechanic. When the owner died at 100, the car went to his daughter. She drove it 100 mi. over the next 4 years, but let the car sit for 3 years after that. Water ponded in the rear trunk, and a good portion of the rear half of the trunk pan is rusted out. But that's pretty much all the rust there is on the car. The daughter gave it to the mechanic, and, after servicing it, he had it for another 8 months before I got it. The car has 162K miles on it. Because of it's condition and documentation, I'm inclined to see if anyone is interested in doing a full restoration. If there is no interest in that, I will do a motor and suspension conversion and go race the thing. Thanks for any comments. |

Could you add a picture of the stickers on driver's side door jamb, below the striker plate? A '75 California car should have a VIN sticker and a Catalyst Required : |
