Hello fellow teeners,
Here's my story, I Bought my second teener here in southern California (where i reside) in late 2015 with plans to do a full resto mod from ground up. I have made some progress but this last year I have hit snag. Its been a almost a year and my project has come to a stand still. I am one again getting the teener fever with the only remedy of making some progress and completing my mid life project some time this year.
Here lies my problem, After doing some local searches for someone to weld my steel GT fenders and a complete paint job, I couldn't find anyone local (that hasn't flaked on me or charged outrageous prices) that wanted to tackle this project of mine. Finally I was referred to some shop in Fresno from a friend of mine 300 miles away that he has dealt with in his own 914 that is show quality so I had shipped my car out to him. To make a long story short the body shop he originally recommended flaked out and now I am dealing with another shop that has put my project on the back burner after sitting at the body shop for the last 6 months un touched. I am giving this guy till the end of the month to at least start working on it or Ill be taking my deposit and my ride somewhere else. Kind of hard to ship a car when it is stripped down and is on a rotisserie.
Can anybody in the fresno and surrounding area recommend a place that will weld on the fenders and paint the complete car that will not flake out on me or put my project in the back burner?
Thanks in advance.
Al

Was the car a V8 conversion at one time? I saw the front wheel well cutouts like many V8 conversions used.

Hi George, Very close on your guess. I have cut them out to fit my radiator for Subaru STI 2.0 JDM turbo engine. My buddy in Fresno made me some custom grill for the cut outs.Attached Image

I’d grill those off or you’ll be building a mouse house... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/poke.gif) Nay Rob, once you convert to a reliable set up it becomes a daily driver. Mice only take up residence in the occasionally driven cars. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) On a more serious note Costa; Now you get to calculate the area of all those holes in order to know the cut out size for the front. If the front area is too great the air pressure will override the bulkhead seal and enter the cabin as well as heat up your gas to the point of vapor locking. Took me 18 mo's to figure that one out. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif) Kent (not me, the guy doing Cairo's car) is a man of his word but local to LA. Dealing with an Honorable Shop is worth shipping the car back here. Regardless of the PITA it will be. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)
