About to reinstall engine and the original flywheel was

cut 0.025".

The as found spacer washer under the clutch fork pivot ball

is 0.060" thick.

This 0.060" thickness was also found on 2 other 914 transmission we have, so we are assuming this was the standard factory washer thickness used with a new uncut flywheel.

Searching seems to indicate that an additional washer of 0.025" needs to be added to the 0.060" washer under the pivot ball to maintain the geometry.

Can we get confirmation that this is correct. If not then what if anything is to be done to compensate for the flywheel being cut?

Also have others found the original washer was indeed 0.060"

Thanks

Thanks to all so far.

So I am going to go with what I posted. I thus am assuming that since 3 trannies I had all had the .060" washer under them that they were there from the factory.

And having cut the flywheel the .025" I will add that. As Lucky9146 pointed out the thickness of a dime is .046" or so, close enough to the .060, and the 8mm wavy washer is .025", then that is what I will go with the two of them.

If others have info to offer please do.

Thanks
