Current Ebay ad for an NOS 1976 owners manual. 2.0L and 1.8L indicated on the cover. Dated 9/75.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/NOS-1976-PORSCHE-9...;frcectupt=true Early on it says that the 1.8L is not available in the USA. Was the 1.8L available anywhere on this planet in 1976? Attached thumbnail(s) |

I have never seen nor heard of a 76 1.8. In the last year of a 914 they were scraping the bottom of the barrel, reprinting the 75 owners manual and labeling it 76 with the front page that you showed, etc. They were also using any parts they had to complete the run. we had a 12/75 produced car with silver center button gauges, knowing that they were discontinued in the middle of the 75 production run.
As an added note, the 76 2.0 cars had a decal "914 2.0" where all of the other years had metal or plastic badges. However the parts book has a "914 1.8" decal that used to be available, implying that there was a 76 1.8 |
