Hi Folks,
I'm new to the forum. I've been trying to get my project up and going for a couple of years now and it's finally about to get some momentum over the coming months. I tried to start a thread in the 'Restoration and Build Threads' area but I got a note saying that I didn't have permission to do so. Is it cool to start a build thread in this part of the forum? Thanks and greetings from Australia. // Luke. Attached thumbnail(s) ![]() |

Thanks very much for the welcomes. I'll back up a bit and fill in some history from the last few years.
I'm a Brit, living in Australia since '06. I have a media brand called Fuel Tank http://fueltank.cc/. I bought this car in the motherland in 2001, shortly after it had been imported there from California. I did a few bits and pieces to make it my own (lowering, seat trimming, Bilstein shocks, Autometer gauges, covered the targa roof in Mercedes convertible fabric and a few other cosmetics) and enjoyed driving it lots and lots. This is how it was then. This is was at a photoshoot for Ultra VW magazine in 2004 at Rockingham Raceway in the UK where the relatively shortlived 'ASCAR' series was held. The car in the back was being raced at the time by Ben Collins, the original Top Gear 'Stig' and Daniel Craig's Bond stunt driver. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/i.postimg.cc-22382-1563600975.1.jpg) After enjoying the car in Europe for five years, I was offered a job here in Australia and I locked up the '14 and made my way here and I've been here ever since. The car sat for quite a while and I finally got round to bringing it over here a couple of years ago. Here are some pictures of what it looked like on the day that I dragged it out of the lock-up in the UK and sent it off on a flatbed to start its journey to Australia: (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/i.postimg.cc-22382-1563600976.2.jpg) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/i.postimg.cc-22382-1563600977.3.jpg) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/i.postimg.cc-22382-1563600978.4.jpg) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/i.postimg.cc-22382-1563600978.5.jpg) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/i.postimg.cc-22382-1563600980.6.jpg) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/i.postimg.cc-22382-1563600981.7.jpg) |
