Hello gang.....I have just changed out all of the shift bushings in my '73 2.0. I was told that after 1972 that there are no bushings to replace in the shift knob mechanism as there were in prior years. What is the best way to lubricate all those parts under the shift knob boot? Thank you very much.

Clean the underside. Put it in 2nd gear. Remove the housing bolts and turn the shifter 90*. Remove the the yoke to shift lever bolt. This preserves the current front setting. Inspect the detention plate and lever for wear.
