I need to go on a diet!, my car weighs in at 2135 lbs. I think I can legally shed about 114 lbs. |

The car is all steel 914/6 with the excepton of lids and bumpers. It has a substantial cage. I just ordered a lightweight battery ...around 4lbs and will ditch the optima red top. Including the battery tray I estimate this will get me 34lbs. I also ordered a lightweight starter I think this gets me 10lbs.
That leaves me 70lbs. I've thought about fiberglass doors...maybe. Anyone have any other suggestions? |

ooops…
frank beck apparently I'm a senior now I'm having senior moments does SVRA run you in group 6... ? (because of the flares) the weight things is a game of ounces. we took 500lbs out of our shell when we built it drilling holes, removing any non structural wire loom tabs, etc. I replaced any metal I could with aluminum... removed anything else I could to get the weight down.. it took a year... I don't run any engine tinwork, nor chassis shelf around the tin work... things like that are the long slow way to win the ounce war The SCCA screwed the 914/6 big time when the Datsun 240 came... vintage screwed the 914/6 even more when it let all of the Datsun put real brakes on the car and elimated their one weakness... CP was the right place for a 914/6 for only a handful of years, and by the mid 70's we were screwed... still I'd rather run in CP than with all of the big guys you have to run with now |
