So I am a new 914 owner ( 1973) - car is running, but the clutch will not engage. Last owner said they thought the linkage was broken - but in looking under the car, the rod is moving just fine from shifter back to transmission. As I am poking around today I notice this cable end out near the rear / firewall. Is this my clutch cable? I think it is, but confused where the rest ended up.. and... where should I look/ repair for this? THANK YOU!   |

You can have someone depress the clutch and it should move to disengage.
If you are lucky (relatively) the grounding strap from the transmission to the body is not grounding and the next place for the current to travel is the clutch cable (ask me how I found this out). It can cause the cable to stretch, and even snap. As long as there is not a lot of noise while running, it should be a cable issue. |
