So I understand there supposed to be some trimming of the rear pads on the bottom potion.

When I mock up the pad I've already milled on, it looks like I need to go another .100" to .125" more.

Did I mess up the install?

Top pad is modified, bottom stock.

Yes, standard 986 calipers.

I am using the Rebel Racing braided brake lines with banjo bolts.

All 4 calipers are on the car...now to tackle installing the new master cylinder.

I just went through this a couple weeks ago. Yes, I was surprised at how much material had to be removed. Just about to the pad center material. You have more to remove. Only the inner rear pads needed it on mine.
Overall, I see no problem operating the car this way.
