After many responses to converting to carburetion I've decided to look into cleaning up and using the stock system. My concern is the boots that go over the fuel injectors are ripped off and the main harness outer housing has turned so brittle that It will probably break if moved very much. I assume I will be changing all of the fuel and air hoses but the are a few connections that are proprietary that look like they are in bad shape. Where would I go for replacements. If I'm going to do this I'm going to do it clean. Thanks.

Jeff reuses your old connectors. 914rubber and restoration design have engine harnesses with all new connections. It’s worth it since the old ones are 50 years old.

Jeff reuses your old connectors. 914rubber and restoration design have engine harnesses with all new connections. It’s worth it since the old ones are 50 years old. One cannot always assume that new reproduction plastic parts of unknown material or durability are ‘better’ than factory originals. Unserviceable parts are not used if that is the implication. Most people here know that I have been building 914 wiring harnesses for over 20 years, longer than anyone in the industry, and I have always used only the best quality parts available and that includes factory OEM parts where NLA and when in good serviceable condition. The most important parts in my harnesses - wires, wire terminals, casing and boots, are all new factory OEM or better quality and the workmanship quality is first class. FWIW the plastic connectors are of the same material as the 50 year old brake fluid reservoirs on all 914s which still serve their purpose, so this is no cause for concern. 20 years of satisfied customers and a thousand 914s saved by my harnesses speaks for itself. |
