Just got back from having the teener run on a Dyno.
Good and not as good as I expected. Was hoping for at least 100 Hp, didn't make it. This run was on a Mustang Dyno, allegedly a Dynojet Dyno reads from 12~15% higher. First the good. Runs were extremely consistent. the three runs printed pretty much right on top of each other. Torque was way up there above 95 tq from 3000 to 4500. with no real dips. HP numbers were very consistent with a nice smooth line from 2000 to over 4500 Now the bad Max HP was only read at 88 Hp and max torque was 100. If I add the 12-15% it comes to 100 Hp. But it is what it is. Build is 2056 D-jet, Heads by HAM RS+, 8.6 comp. Raby 9590 cam, SS HEs with Triad muffler. I Have adjusted the MPS to what seems to run best for this car. This car runs great and I just wanted to know what it was putting out, Not really planning to try to tune it for more power. Reliability is the key. and I am so far happy with that. James is right...and back to the OP.
Maybe and it sounds like it, the expectation was more and what was had was realistic and hence the title of the thread. The compression ratio was built for reliability and the dyno reflects this. I would just add...these cars now are entering a collector status and I'd predict that more folks will want "stockish" or original components like Mark is seeing. Like it or not. If you want over 150 HP or over that then get a six or a modern Porsche. |

I totally get the stock engine and the 2.0 is a lot of fun, but personally if I had to live with stock HP I'd be a 911 or corvette guy. I agree the run on Djets are a sign of the times, but my fall schedule is filling up with /6 conversions and engines so there's still just as many performance guys. I personally have driven many modern Porsche's, I still like my little 914 over them. For T4 I can and built reliable 160hp iron cylinder stroker engines, my '67 bug has a 180hp 2600cc T4 with nickies and SDS EFI. |

Heck 150hp with EFI would be great! A 160 type 4 would be great for my brother's 914...I think the costly tally of my /6 conversion is helping him move towards a big /4 (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) |

Now it's swung back the other way making the big dollar T4 still way cheaper than a /6. But even one of my full restoration 2.0 Djet installed and sorted is not cheap, but at our age and limited use it's likely the last engine you would need. |
