No, they're loud. You can stick a broom stick (not a chop stick) straight through into the headers.

Last month, I made the mistake of starting it up to show it to a couple of friends at around 10pm. In about two minutes, I had an irate neighbor in my driveway calling me every name in the book.

Aestetically, they're one of my favorite parts of 914RS.
