Hi all,

I'm considering building up my stock 1800 into a 1911 and wanted to get some opinions before I pull the trigger. This will be used for street driving and autocross use so I'd still like a smooth idle and road manners.

The pistons I found are manufactured by AA, looking online they have mixed reviews and from what I understand are sourced from China. Anyone have any first hand experience with this brand?

I then talked to web-cam and they recommended their 00-152 mild street cam. specs are:
Valve Lash (Inch): .006"
Valve Lift (Inch):0.422
Valve Lift (mm):10.73
Advertised Duration:273°
Duration @ 0.050":234°
Lobe Center:108°

I plan to use my existing weber 40IDF carbs, what jets and venturi size should I use?
Has anyone built something like this before? Thanks in advance!

When you split the case to install the cam, look at the condition of the bearings for the cam ,rods , and crank. This will guide you with the rebuild. If the crank journal's are marginal, it is best to go with the 2.0 rods and crank for a 2056. If the bottom end is still strong and good, a 1911 is a good plan. The pistons are different for the 2056 verses the 1911. SO if they have been been purchased, then the path is in motion already.
Both will be lots of fun with the cam selected and Weber 40 idfs.
