Hi,
Well, as the topic mentions it, seeking info regarding the flipped G50 setup. If you have one, i'm seeking info about the angulation of the half shafts and how the trans is mounted to the 914 / height / protuding in the rear trunk (if so on your install)?. Thanks! |

When I was looking at transmissions for my big six, I researched the G-50. To put it in a 914, you have to flip it. But the bolt pattern on the bell housing is not symmetrical. So you have to plug and redrill the bolt holes. Then you have to cut out the rear trunk floor to be able to get the engine up into the engine compartment with the transmission. The axle shafts also run at an extreme angle, and you have to devise a way to shift it.
That's why I went with a G86-21 from a Cayman. Same basic transmission, but it is already mid engined. You have to make a clutch to adapt it to an air cooled engine, but you can buy off the shelf axles that work with a 914, and it is cable shifted. And you don't have to hack out the floor of the rear trunk either. Clay |

I did read about the Boxster Caymen setup but still trying the bits & pieces to put it behind a 3.6 non varioram |
