I did write to Dr. Evil and have not heard back.
I would think anyone in the medical profession during Covid has little time for anything else besides family. Perhaps someone he mentored in his clinics or anyone I may turn to. I simply cannot get into 3rd gear. It is not bushings or the shift mechanism. Something keeps in the tranny keeps it from engaging. All the other gears work well. Happy to ship. Does anyone have some recommendations? Thanks George Ozer Wilmington,DE |

You may have already done this, but check the cone screws on the shift rod, especially the one at the transmission cover. Early Last year I replaced the rubber boots on the shift rod and had to remove the cone screw. I had seen warnings about DO NOT REUSE the cone screw… but I was in a hurry and reused it. Started driving in the fall and after @600 miles, I noticed I could not get 3rd gear… then I remembered what I had done. I took off the plastic transmission cover and voila, the cone screw was barely threaded in. I immediately ordered new cone screws (with the nylon dot) and will install them this weekend.
