After filling my brake system with all new components and stainless hard lines, I found several leaking connections. When I installed all the lines I made up the connections as tight as I normally would. Do the stainless lines, and flared ends, need more torque to seat and seal?

yes, ss is harder than the stock lines and doesn't crush to shape as easily. Eric Shea might have some comments or tricks to help you.
