I downloaded and ran the Spybot S&D also...great tool.
I suddenly started getting bombarded with pop-ups not too long ago. After some hunting in the registry, I discovered an actual service/driver that had been installed on my machine which was causing it. I'd just be sitting there on the Pelican BBS or even Yahoo, and the crap would open up. The service was called something really innocuous like "Winsvc" or "Mediahelper" or something along those lines. Nuked it and the popups decreased 95%. What a waste of time this crap is... |
