Would these parts have been originally painted or plated? This is for a 1970 914-6.

I can't tell from their current condition. Some of our parts were painted, and should not have been. The parts photos I find online are inconsistent.
  1. Drive flange (aka rear axle stub)
  2. Plate (zinc black phosphate, black oxide, maybe zinc clear phosphate-silver)
  3. Accelerator cable support (80% sure this would have been zinc yellow phosphate-gold, even though ours was clearly painted)

No guessing please. Thank you.

Stub axle was RAW steel, later on they were black oxide

Control Arm plate- black oxide/yellow zinc depending on production

Thanks very much Mark. Would you know these as well?
  • Bearing pin (zinc clear-silver, or perhaps raw steel)
  • Moon plate (some of ours appear black, others silver)

Thanks again. Another batch to the platers tomorrow.
